Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and AppStart LLC (“AppStart”, “we”), which makes EmailTamer. By installing or using the EmailTamer desktop app (the “app”) or using emailtamer.app (the “website”), you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.

The app

EmailTamer runs on your computer and connects to email accounts you choose. It finds subscription senders, sends unsubscribe requests you initiate, and can label, archive and mark messages read. It does not permanently delete email. How the app handles your data is described in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

The app is currently offered as a pre-release early-access build. Features may change, be incomplete, or be withdrawn. During early access the app is provided free of charge. If we later introduce paid features, we will tell you before you are charged, and nothing here obliges you to buy them.

Your accounts and your responsibilities

Connect only email accounts you own or are authorized to manage, and follow your email provider’s terms. You are responsible for the actions you ask the app to take, including which senders you unsubscribe from. Keep your computer and accounts secure; the app stores its data on your device.

You can stop using the app at any time. Remove your accounts in the app and revoke its access with your provider, for Google at myaccount.google.com/connections.

Unsubscribe results

Unsubscribing depends on each sender. The app reports what happened to each request, but we cannot guarantee that a sender will honor it or stop emailing you. Some senders require you to finish on their website.

Third-party services

The app works with services we do not control, including Google/Gmail and the unsubscribe pages and endpoints that senders publish. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies.

License and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for managing your own email. Do not use it to send unsolicited email, to access accounts without authorization, to interfere with any service, or in violation of law. Do not resell the app or reverse engineer it except where the law allows. AppStart keeps all rights in the app, the website and the EmailTamer name.

Disclaimers

The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. Early-access software may contain bugs.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, AppStart is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, messages or profits, arising from your use of the app or website. Our total liability for any claim relating to them is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date above, and material changes will be announced on this website or in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may suspend or end access to the app or website if you violate these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which AppStart LLC is organized, and applicable United States law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
